About the artist
Light, air and colour
Natalia Ezhova (Penza) trained in the art studios of members of the Union of Artists of Russia: M. K. Korolkova and T. V. Pentyukh (oil painting) and T. G. Chagorova (batik). She paints in oil on canvas and also creates works in hot and cold batik.
Her painting is many-sided and varied. Landscapes and still lifes are perhaps Natalia’s favourite subjects. Travelling the world, she finds subjects for future paintings and, drawing on the experience of the Impressionists, renders reality through her own vision, trusting her impression. There is no sadness or gloom in her paintings — they are full of light, air and bright colours, laid on with distinctive, recognisable strokes.
She works with the palette knife and in mixed technique, which gives her canvases a special expressiveness. Smooth oil painting combined with palette-knife work is striking in its depth and volume, rich colour and complex, expressive textures. Natalia prefers to paint quickly, modelling large bright shapes with bold, dynamic strokes. She paints wonderful flowers, colourful still lifes and interesting cityscapes.
Since 2018 Natalia Ezhova has taken part in annual themed exhibitions in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Penza, showing both batiks and oil paintings.
Her works are held in museum and private collections in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Israel and Cyprus. Natalia exhibits every year at the Penza Regional Philharmonic and the Savitsky Penza Art Gallery.
